He-man and the Masters of the Universe was a well orchestrated marketing project which gave rise to some of the most imaginative action figures of their time, and what's more they were on a larger 5" scale which dwarfed the main competitors of Star Wars and G.I.Joe at the time.

The figures and toys were tied in with the well animated and very successful television show which spanned  episodes. Some of the figures lacked detail and it is evident that the same molds were used on several different figures in order to keep down the production costs, but for what the figures lacked in detail they certainly made up for in action features. Just check out Saurod's sparking breath and Tung Lasher's flicking tongue!
